“MALICIOUS MONSTERS WITHIN - GREED”

Luke 12:15-21

I. WHY DO I ALWAYS WANT MORE?

Three Misconceptions

1. Having more things will make me _______________________.

“He who loves money shall never have enough.  The foolishness of thinking that wealth brings happiness!”     Ecclesiastes 5:10 (LB)

“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires; God will satisfy them fully.”             Matthew 5:6 (GN)

2. Having more things will make me _______________________.

God says, “You are precious in my sight!” Isaiah 43:4 (NIV)

3. Having more things will make me _______________________.

“The rich man thinks of his wealth as an impregnable defense, a high wall of safety.  What a dreamer!”         Proverbs 18:11 (LB)

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘I will never leave you nor abandon you.’”          Hebrews 13:5 (GN)

II. HOW CAN I GUARD AGAINST THE GRIP OF GREED?

Jesus:  “Watch out!  Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

          Luke 12:15
